The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation proposes abolishing the statute of limitations for tax offenses. As reported by Vedomosti, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has put forward an initiative to recognize tax offenses as continuing offenses, that is, to treat tax evasion as a crime until the debtor pays the tax, the penalty equal to the amount of the tax, and the fine. In practical terms, this innovation means the abolition of the statute of limitations, retroactively. For taxpayers, this creates a risk of being held liable even for tax offenses committed more than 10 years ago. Source:
